Charmed Harmony Primed for 2015 Sandown Stakes

November 10th, 2015

Charmed Harmony has been a strong and consistent performer for trainer John Sadler this season, and is reportedly in absolute peak condition for Saturday’s 2015 Sandown Stakes (1500m) according to the Caulfield-based horseman.

Currently amidst a long and busy eleven start preparation which stretches back to the Dodo BM80 (1200m) at Royal Randwick on February 14th, Charmed Harmony made an impressive transition to black type racing when fifth in the featured Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) before running a credible fourth in the Group 3 Guvera Stakes (1400m) most recently on Derby Day.

Confirming the 2015 Sandown Stakes will figure as the horse’s final point of call before returning to the paddock for a well-earned spell, Sadler told RSN he has been thrilled with the results posted by Charmed Harmony in 2015 and is confident Saturday’s conditions will play into the strengths of his runner.

“The 1500 I think that will be his swansong for this time in,” Sadler said.

“He has been in for 12 months.

“I think he gets the 1500 ok, he struggles a wee bit at the mile, but 1500 should be good.

“All his runs have been really good and he didn’t get any peace at all in that race at Flemington and I thought he was probably entitled to put up the white flag at the 200, but he really battled it out to run fourth.

“It was a really good effort and he is showing me no signs of having had enough, so we thought we would have one more throw at the stumps on Saturday.”

Charmed Harmony stamped his claims as one to watch upon debuting for success in the Rheem Aquamax Maiden Plate (1200m) at Sale for Mick Price in late 2012, but has undoubtedly kicked up a gear since arriving in Sadler’s care prior to 2014.

Producing several impressive efforts through an impressive 2014 campaign and capping the year with success in the Cove Hotel BM90 (1400m) at Sandown in August, the Hussonet gelding progressed to success in the Sandown Park BM78 (1200m) following his first-up run at Randwick this year.

Continuing to impress, Charmed Harmony won four consecutive starts leading into the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.

The 2015 Sandown Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
